UDI (United Durham Incorporated Community Development Corporation is a nonprofit corporation to promote economic development of low income communities. UDI Community Development Corporation offers opportunities for investment in self-controlled enterprises by low income citizen; neighborhood hiring of employees for enterprises and has a membership of 53 people selected by community councils. The UDI Business Resource Center (UDI BRC) works to empower historically disadvantaged and low-asset community-based entrepreneurs by instilling in them business techniques, expanding cooperative partnerships, and cultivating job creation and retention in the Durham, North Carolina corridor. The facility also serves as a resource center for small/minority contractors to help them in the following areas: to become knowledgeable of major construction jobs; bid on the jobs; negotiate; obtain bonding information and provide them with other supportive services that are crucial in order for them to become competitive in the construction industry. UDI manages Mangum Court, a low-income housing property and St. Joseph Place- an Elderly Housing project.
