Murdoch Developmental Center provides residential care, support and short-term respite admissions for persons with Moderate to Profound Intellectual Disabilities and other related developmental disabilities. The general adult population serves individuals from the Central Region of North Carolina. In addition, Murdoch operates four specialty statewide programs. These include the following: Behaviorally Advanced Residential Treatment (BART): This program serves young adult men who have developmental disabilities (typically Mild Intellectual Disability) and demonstrate extreme and dangerous forms of behavior. Most individuals in the program have a history of failed residential placements, psychiatric hospitalizations, and/or repeat criminal offenses. Partners in Autism Treatment and Habilitation Program (PATH): This program serves children and adolescents from ages 6 through 16 who have Autism and serious behavioral challenges.
