International Affairs Council of North Carolina

Information provided by: Durham System of Care

International Affairs Council of North Carolina (IACNC) is a non-partisan, 501(c)(3) non-profit affiliate of the World Affairs Councils of America and the National Council for International Visitors. Founded through the efforts of Terry Sanford and William Friday, we are today the U.S. Dept. of State’s leading North Carolina partner in public diplomacy. Supported by corporate member-sponsors, IACNC directly serves the greater Triangle region, and through that service the wider North Carolina community. Our seventeen-member Board, chaired by Catherine Burnett of the William R. Kenan, Jr. Charitable Trust, features prominent corporate, government, and civil society officials, all with significant international experience. IACNC represents the Triangle region’s business-relevant global thought leadership infrastructure. Our product is global strategic insight, which we deliver to corporate, government, and civil society leaders through carefully co-designed programming yielding direct, unmediated access to Ambassadors, Ministers, and other persons of influence from around the world. Our staff of international affairs professionals employ global perspective, relationships with the U.S. Dept. of State and foreign embassies, and detailed local knowledge in combination to serve as expert conveners. Currently, IACNC also hosts approximately fifty international visitor delegations annually for extensive peer-to-peer exchange with Triangle leaders in all sectors.
