The goal of foster parenting is to make a temporary care commitment to youth who have been abused or neglected while DSS is working toward reuniting the child (ren) with his/her family. Foster Families also assist the child (ren)’s birth family toward reunification by providing information on the child (ren)’s progress, cooperating with visitation and offering support and encouragement to the child (ren)’s parents. To provide foster care or apply to adopt - you must: -be 21 years old -A Durham Co. resident -Sufficient income to meet your family’s current needs. -Pass a criminal background check -Complete training -Complete a Home Study
