Health Equipment Loan Program (HELP)

Information provided by: Durham System of Care

Free loan of durable medical equipment, e.g. walkers, wheelchairs, crutches, tub benches, and bedside commodes. Most gently used donations are accepted; call to confirm items are being accepted since outpouring from the public is overwhelming at times. Any Durham County resident can borrow equipment or bring their donations to Project Access of Durham County at 4206 N. Roxboro St., Suite 100 (only Tues from 10-2 pm and Fri from 1-5 pm). To borrow during those days and times, please bring proof of residency in Durham County in one of these forms: driver's license, other picture ID or voter registration card, utility or medical bill, lease or residency letter from a shelter or alternative residence, car registration, or a pay stub with the name and address of the borrower. Donations are accepted from residents outside of Durham County.
