Suicide loss survivors to share stories

The Brandon Sun - 11/15/2019

Those who have experienced the pain of losing someone through suicide will share their thoughts at a public event on Nov. 21.

Presented by the Suicide Prevention Implementation Network, or SPIN, the evening dedicated to survivors of suicide loss will held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Room 180 at Assiniboine Community College’s East Campus.

During the event, titled “Surviving Suicide Loss,” there will be a viewing of a short film, “The Journey Revisited,” followed by a panel discussion.

The panel will consist of mental-health professionals and those with lived experience.

International Survivor of Suicide Loss Day is the one day a year when people affected by suicide loss gather around the world at events in their local communities to find comfort and gain understanding as they share stories of healing and hope. Last year, there were close to 400 Survivor Day events in more than 20 countries.
